Walking to Work

Just past our house:

Then just past "Big Yellow" is this house with the koi:

The beginnings of the uphill climb to Fiesole:

It's getting a bit steep:

The stairs just below the Roman Theater:

The Fiesole town square now behind me, I start my descent to San Domenico di Fiesole, and the Duomo comes into view for the first time:

The wall to my left goes on for a relatively long ways, but then the Medici's had a corner on the real estate market:

With my second view of the Duomo comes my first view of one of the windows in my office. The EUI Library is that long building off-center to the right. My office is on the top floor, the last window on the downhill (left) end.

It's all downhill from here...

...and from here...

...down still further, facing briefly to the west:

An interesting entrance along the way:

Yes, this is a 2-way street:

My quiet walk is interrupted by the main road in San Domenico di Fiesole. I will be turning right, where that first visible white car is coming from:

It's the home stretch. Even on days I get a ride, I have to walk this last bit, along with rush hour traffic:

A view of the EUI Library through the neighboring villa's gate:

The last stretch of the "sidewalk" leading to the EUI:

Just past the cloister and through the door on the far side...

...is the garden on the west side of the Library. Currently the entrance is here while the main entrance (through another door in the cloiseter) is being remodelled.

The garden outside the Library is filled with potted olive trees and scupltures.
